Dripping red wax doesn't seem like something that could get a company in trouble, but it did for one liquor distributor. When Fortune Brands–maker of Maker's Mark whiskey–caught wind that tequila-producer Jos? Cuervo, based in Mexico, was using a similar mark on some of its tequila bottles, it sued the company and its U.S. distributor, Diageo North America.

On April 2, a judge ruled in Fortune Brands favor, prohibiting Cuervo from using the dripping red wax seal on any of its tequila products.
