The Securities and Exchange Commission isn't the only big name suing Goldman Sachs these days. Mega-producer Joel Silver, known for such films as “The Matrix” and the “Lethal Weapon” series, filed suit against the beleaguered investment bank Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Silver claims Goldman offered him $30 million in exchange for a cut of the profits from films produced by his Dark Castle studio. The deal started in 2007 when Goldman looked into buying Alliance, a Canadian production company. Silver connected the bank with Societe Generale de Financement du Quebec Bureau, which has also funded Silver's Dark Castle, as a potential investor to help fund the purchase of Alliance. As part of the deal, Goldman was to pay Silver $35 million, later renegotiated down to $30 million.

Three years later, Silver says he hasn't received a penny from the transaction, despite Goldman receiving a share of Dark Castle's profits. For more on the winding road leading to Silver's suit, read The Hollywood Reporter story.
