Following the November elections and the various laws implemented in 2010, many employers wonder what additional regulatory challenges and changes that they will face this year. Below are a few of the “hot” labor and employment issues that employers may deal with in 2011.

Labor Relations and the National Labor Relations Board

Given the new make up of the Board, there are many predictions that there will be more pro-labor decisions in 2011. Additionally, due to the labor-friendly Board, unions will likely be more aggressive than ever with unfair labor practices charges. Other things to watch for include: the possibility that the Board will allow the future use of electronic and internet voting in representative elections and the Board seeking membership in bargaining units for temporary workers and reduced standards for supervisors, so that more of them can be unionized.
