The father of a model killed when she fell from a 10th floor window at the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta has filed a lawsuit against the hotel and its corporate owner, Atlanta Business Chronicle broadcast partner WXIA-TV is reporting.

LaShawna Threatt, 30, and her friend, Ciara Williams, 25, were “play fighting” in the hotel room at about 3:15 a.m. on May 28 following a birthday celebration for Threatt at Atlantic Station, when they crashed through the window, their friends, and Threatt's finance, Ray Hamilton, told police. Threatt was killed when she landed atop the hotel's fifth-floor sunroom. Williams landed on the sidewalk and was taken to Grady Hospital. She remains in the hospital, but is said to be improving.
