Marshaling a group of leaders is often a good way for people to share ideas and learn about best practices. Such is the thought behind this year's Generals of the Revolution Roundtable, which gathered a host of general counsel and other legal leaders to discuss a handful of topics currently affecting today's legal departments.

Hosted by InsideCounsel magazine and sponsored by technology solution provider Datacert Inc., the roundtable was the second in a series of traveling engagements that began last year. This year's discussion in Chicago focused on sharing ideas and innovative solutions to a few key topics that were identified during last year's events.

Today's event featured 14 panelists, many hailing from the Chicagoland area, who shared tactics regarding what they are doing to handle global compliance issues in their companies. Specifically, they spoke on strategies related to privacy compliance, the role of technology in their compliance efforts and the processes they have in place to track their compliance efforts.

The group also examined alternative staffing models and debated how they make staffing decisions, especially given the role of procurement departments in these matters. To top things off, the panelists shared their thoughts on how best to use metrics and benchmarking data, and discussed how technology and collaboration tools are shaping the way they do business.
