The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), which represents six major Hollywood film studios, is suing BT, the largest Internet service provider (ISP) in the U.K., in an attempt to force it to block customer access to Newzbin, a website that allegedly hosts pirated versions of films, TV shows and music.
The Guardian reports that the copyright infringement case goes before the high court in London today. It is the first high court case in the U.K. to attempt to force an ISP to block a website under the Copyright, Design and Patents Act.
The MPAA represents Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M.
