The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) announced yesterday that Joseph West, associate general counsel at Wal-Mart, has been named the association's new president and CEO, effective Sept. 12.

West succeeds Veta T. Richardson, who is now president and CEO of the Association of Corporate Counsel.

West, who has been associate GC at Wal-Mart since 2007, brings 25 years of legal experience to the position. Throughout his career, he has placed emphasis on diversity, having managed Wal-Mart's diversity efforts and having served on the American Bar Association's Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession. West also has presented at MCCA CLE events and was honored for his efforts by the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms.
