Auto Completion Solutions (ACS), based in Frisco, Texas, has filed suit against some major technology companies. In its suit, ACS claims that Google, Facebook, Yahoo! and LinkedIn violated the patent it holds on auto-completion for Internet searches.

In its suit, filed Monday, ACS said it seeks “to recover damages adequate to compensate it for such infringement.”

ACS recently acquired the rights to the technology. Some experts believe the company was founded for the purpose of collecting licensing fees.
