Johnson & Johnson announced last week that General Counsel Russell Deyo will retire next year after nearly three decades with the health care company.

Deyo, 62, is set to retire on March 31, 2012. Mike Ullmann, who has served as GC of Johnson & Johnson's medical device unit since 2006, will become vice president and GC of the company on Jan. 1, 2012.

Deyo joined Johnson & Johnson's legal department in 1985 as a general attorney. In 1996, he was named VP of administration, and he became GC in 2004.

According to the Associated Press story that ran in the Washington Post last week, Johnson & Johnson has seen decreased sales of some of its over-the-counter medications, such as Tylenol, because of manufacturing recalls.
