Facebook Inc.s top lawyer Ted Ullyot is leaving his post after five years with the company, Facebook announced on Friday.

Facebook Inc.'s top lawyer Ted Ullyot is leaving his post after five years with the company, Facebook announced on Friday.
Ullyot joined the tech company as its inaugural general counsel in October 2008. In the ensuing five years he saw Facebook through litigation involving the Winklevoss twins, a patent battle with Yahoo Inc. and the controversy surrounding its May 2012 initial public offering.
“Ted has been a valued member of Facebook's leadership who built our legal team through an intense five-year period in which we faced complex and high-stakes legal issues of all types,” Facebook said in a statement to Bloomberg.
Before his five-year stint at Facebook, Ullyot was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis and an in-house attorney at AOL Time Warner. He also served in the public sector as the Department of Justice's chief of staff and as a deputy assistant to President George W. Bush. There is no word yet on Ullyot's future plans.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
