Sands must pay $101.6 million to businessman

A businessman just won big against Las Vegas Sands Corp.
Earlier this week, a Las Vegas district court judge ruled that Sands must pay a total of $101.6 million to 60-year-old Hong Kong businessman Richar Suen, who claims he helped the casino operator obtain its Macau gaming license. Judge Rob Bare's judgment added $31.6 million in interest to the $70 million a jury awarded to Suen earlier this month.
Suen sued Sands in 2004, claiming he helped arrange meetings between Sands' founder Sheldon Adelson and Chinese leaders to secure a gaming license in Macau in 2002. But Adelson had asserted that Suen, who is friends with his younger brother, didn't help Sands get the deal.
According to the Washington Post, Sands plans to appeal the ruling. Meanwhile, interest on the jury award will continue to accrue until Sands pays up or until a court overturns the verdict.
