Kathleen Philips, the general counsel of real estate website Zillow, is adding a new title to her resumé: chief operating officer.

Philips has served as the company's GC since 2010, notably helping to facilitate its initial public offering in 2011. She also has seen the website through six acquisitions in less than two years, as well as heading up its 65-person San Francisco office.

“Kathleen is an incredibly valuable member of our executive team, and this title much better describes the breadth of responsibilities she has successfully taken on over the last couple of years,” Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff said in a statement.

Before joining Zillow, Philips served as general counsel of companies including FanSnap Inc., a ticket search engine; Pure Digital Technologies, which was acquired by Cisco in 2009; StubHub; and Hotwire.com.

Zillow lost two executives this week with the departures of Bob Bemis, vice president of partner relations, and Duane Fouts, director of partner relations.
