A team from Watson, Farley & Williams, headed by David Syed in Paris, represented Vivendi, the French utilities company, on its e1.7bn (£1.19bn) Eurobond issue.

The money raised will be used to restructure Vivendi's debt profile.

Linklaters & Alliance in Paris represented the underwriters, Societe General, Banque Nationale de Paris and JP Morgan.

Linklaters' team included Roberto Cristofolini, Annick Laine-Audouard and Cenzi Gargaro.

Nabarro Nathanson, led by James Madden, acted for Anglo Irish Corp on a £16m loan to Pelham LP, a Delaware Limited Partnership.

The loan was secured on five multi-let properties. Michael Black of Theodore Goddard assisted Anglo Irish on security documents and DJ Freeman represented Pelham LP.

Baker & McKenzie advised on a high-yield bond offering, totalling $170m, by Filtronic, the electronic design manufacturers.

Securities partners Mitch Gitin and Clive Cook, finance partner Chris Hogan and tax partner Geoff Kay comprised the group. There was significant assistance from Bakers' US offices on US law, which governed the offering.
