n/aClyde & Co is losing long-standing insurance partner Vernon Southey to rival insurance firm Barlow Lyde & Gilbert.
Southey, who is highly-regarded in non-contentious insurance work, is due to leave Clyde and Co at the end of April.
A consultant partner with Clyde & Co, Southey has been at the firm for 13 years. He was head of corporate for 10 years between 1986 and 1996.
It is believed that he will join Barlow Lyde as a consultant partner to head up the non-contentious insurance team.
The news of his move comes hard on the heels of the departure of Michael Jones from Barlow Lyde. Jones, who headed up the non- contentious insurance team, left the firm to join Eversheds last November.
At the time of his departure a spokesperson for Barlow Lyde said that the firm would be making a high-profile recruitment.
Tony Thomas, the practice partner at Clyde & Co, confirmed Southey's move to Barlow Lyde.
He said: "He worked for the firm for many years as a partner. He then became a consultant and is leaving to become a consultant with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert. We wish him good luck in the challenge."
Neither Barlow Lyde or Southey were available to comment on the move.
