Simon Lloyd has quit his job as head of legal at Bristol-based Lloyds TSB to take up the new combined role of company secretary and head of legal at Bristol & West Building Society.
Lloyd, who started his new job last month, heads a team of four lawyers, overseeing the newly-combined areas of legal, compliance and customer relations. He replaces Nick Eyre, formerly head of legal, who has left to join the Co-operative Wholesale Society in Manchester as the equivalent of its company secretary and Anthony Langdon, formerly company secretary of Bristol & West, who has retired.
George Browning who was chief solicitor at Lloyds UDT, will replace Lloyd as head of legal services in a team of seven at Lloyds TSB.
Lloyd put the move down to "career development" and said his new post would widen his experience away from a purely legal focus.
Lloyd said he did not have any plans at present to review Bristol & West's panel of five regional firms, although he did express admiration for London firm Cameron McKenna.
The firms used by Bristol & West for work including litigation, employment, property and banking are Osborne Clarke, Eversheds and Burges Salmon. The company also uses other firms including Veale Wasbrough and Wansbroughs Willey Hargrave.
