McGrigors takes pair from Edinburgh rival
Biggart Baillie partners depart while Masons grows in Glasgow

McGrigor Donald has taken two partners from Scottish rival Biggart Baillie as part of a bid to strengthen its Edinburgh office.
Highly-rated banking lawyer Colin McKay will head McGrigors' firm-wide projects and banking team, while corporate and IT specialist Wayne Laurence will join the corporate unit.
The move is part of a concerted effort by McGrigors to bolster its 18-partner Edinburgh office.
Two months ago the firm took two partners, IP lawyer Hannah Sutter and private finance initiative (PFI) specialist Phil Myerscough, from another Edinburgh practice, Henderson Boyd Jackson.

The case, filed Aug. 13 in Texas Northern District Court by Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders; Ashcroft Sutton Reyes; and Locke Lord on behalf of TMX Finance Corporate Services, seeks to challenge the secretary’s ongoing attempt to regulate commercial lending activity outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The suit furthers contends that the secretary issued an investigative subpoena to TMX for potential violations of the Pennsylvania Loan Interest and Protection Law and the Consumer Discount Company Act despite TMX's business activities not being governed by such.
