Cameron McKenna, Masons and Burges Salmon were among a handful of firms quietly celebrating the success of some of their clients after the fourth annual Alternative Investment Market (AIM) Awards, held last week.
Camerons' corporate partner Louise Wallace was doubly pleased to see two of her clients walk off with top awards. These were Nikki Beckett, founder of retail software development company NSB Retail Systems and AIM's entrepreneur of the year, and Interior Services, which manages and advises on interior fit outs.
Wallace said: "We are business advisers as well as just lawyers… I am delighted."
Masons' client Independent Energy, which has just bought York Gas from York Waterworks, was voted company of the year, and a client of Burges Salmon, Connaught, the business services and facilities company, won best newcomer.
Other winners included International Greetings, the printing, paper and packaging company, which won best communication award. Its advisers are Tarlo Lyons and Titmuss Sainer Dechert.
Scottish company Aortech, a manufacturer of groundbreaking technology in mechanical heart valves, which is advised by Glasgow firm Biggart Baillie, won best technology award.
IT company Just Group, a client of Eversheds, won the award for the best performing shares.
PricewaterhouseCoopers sponsored the awards event.
