Southeast law firm Donne Mileham & Haddock launched its new corporate image this week by changing its name to DMH, embracing a new logo and welcoming staff to work on Monday (8 May) with a live jazz band and a glass of champagne.
DMH is a 30-partner law firm that has grown from a high street practice in 1970 to a leading regional player.
Turnover, which has grown by more than 50% in the last three-years, will top £10m this year, said managing partner Tim Aspinall. The commercial practice will account for 65%-70% of the total.
The change of image reflects the underlying repositioning in the firm, which is now much more actively managed and sets targets on personal profits and areas of business.
Aspinall said two commercial property partners left the firm "by mutual agreement" at the end of last year partly as a result of this.
"Everybody has to share some common values about the firm: that we are client focused and team centred," he said.
"If people do not share those values, then it is in their interests and those of the firm if they move elsewhere."
Last month, DMH recruited Katie McCarthy, the head of employment at rival Southeast firm Cripps Harries Hall. This year it has recommended four solicitors be made up as partners, including three in the commercial practice.
