DLA has further boosted its Leeds corporate team with the hiring of respected Pinsent Curtis partner Andrew Carpenter.
Carpenter, who has advised on high-profile deals such as the £70m institutional buy-out of
the Maccess Group, will join DLA's nine-partner Leeds corporate team in July, under department head Alastair Da Costa.
As well as his private equity experience, Carpenter was also a key driver in Pinsents' cross-departmental technology division, which was set up last year
to boost the firm's share of corporate and IP work with IT and biotech companies.
Commenting on the move, Da Costa said: "Andrew's recruitment is a clear indication of our willingness to invest in developing our Leeds office for the future."
This is the second senior lateral hire in recent months for DLA's Yorkshire corporate team.
In December 1999, the team poached former Garretts partner Roland Todd.
The move comes as the national giant is trying to boost its standing in Leeds.
Although DLA has a lower profile than Addleshaw Booth & Co and Eversheds locally, its corporate team has developed a strong reputation, advising clients such as Newco and Hawkpoint.
In July, DLA will move its separate Leeds offices under one roof for the first time at its new base, the 72,000 sq ft Princes Exchange.
