Biggart Baillie has hired the entire pensions practice of Scottish rival Morison Bishop, securing a highly rated three-partner team.

Rated pensions head Iain Talman, along with partners June Crombie and Colin Gregg, have announced that they are leaving for the larger firm along with two assistant solicitors and a support team of five.

"This is a major strategic recruitment which gives us what is arguably the foremost pensions law team in Scotland," said managing partner Campbell Smith.

"It completes what has been a very long search to give Biggart Baillie pensions law expertise."

Although leaving dates have yet to be agreed the lawyers are expected to join Biggarts by August this year.

A spokesman for the firm stated that the team expects to bring their full client load with them.

The hire comes four months after the Glasgow-based firm pulled off its merger with Steedman Ramage. The firm picked up 10 partners and 18 fee-earners from the Edinburgh-based property firm.

Earlier this week commercial litigation partner Brent Haywood started at the firm. He has joined from rival firm Burness where he was a partner.

The latest recruitment brings Biggart Baillie's total partnership up to 39 and the total number of lawyers at the firm up to 90.
