scotsThe Scottish Executive has ditched plans for the introduction of a judicial code of conduct, two years after it was first proposed in a consultation paper on judicial appointments.

The paper, Judicial Appointments: An Inclusive Approach, produced in early 2000, called for proposals on a binding code for judges in the Supreme and Sheriff Courts.

Although a spokesman for the Scottish Executive said responses had been "mixed", no further action was taken. The spokesman confirmed this week that the Executive had no plans to take the matter further.
