Finers Stephens Innocent senior partner Peter Jay has resigned from his position and agreed to redistribute some of his equity points among the partnership.

Jay, who was appointed as senior partner at Finers prior to its merger with Stephens Innocent in 1999, stepped down earlier this year and has not been replaced.

The move preceded an internal profits review which resulted in Jay giving a proportion of his equity points to other partners two months ago.
One former Finers lawyer claimed that Jay's equity allocation had long been a source of contention and that the issue had come to a head in the summer.
