AmexAmerican Express Services Europe (Amex) is set to launch a review of its legal advisers after appointing Mark Chambers as its new general counsel from GE Insurance Holdings (GE).

Chambers, a former lawyer at Slaughter and May, joined Amex at the end of January to lead its 18-lawyer team for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He was group head of legal at GE.

The move looks certain to favour Slaughters, which is not a regular corporate adviser to Amex, as Chambers is known to still have strong links with the magic circle firm and instructed it on the lion's share of GE's European work.
