IndonesiaThe Indonesian Government is poised to implement a new law restricting the right of foreign lawyers to practise in the country.

As part of a wide-ranging reform of the country's legal system, foreign lawyers will soon have to gain a special licence to practise. A new pan-Indonesian law society will be created which will monitor and license foreign lawyers.

Currently, Australian, UK and US lawyers have only had to gain an easily obtainable licence from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to practise locally. The new system will require each lawyer to gain an official recommendation from the new law society, as well as the MoJ.
