Denton Wilde Sapte is in mourning following the shock death of senior PFI partner Stan Gniadkowski.
Gniadkowski – who died last Friday morning (7 August) – is believed to have taken his own life.
Dentons managing partner Virginia Glastonbury told Legal Week: "As a firm we want to express our sadness at this tragic loss. Stan was a hugely popular member of the firm and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him."
"Our sympathies and thoughts are now with Stan's family."
It is expected that a formal inquest into the circumstances surrounding Gniadkowski's death will take place later this year.
Gniadkowski joined the legacy firm Wilde Sapte in 1997 after spending the previous nine years as a partner at DJ Freeman.
Prior to that he was deputy company solicitor at property company John Laing, before joining the Milton Keynes Development Corporation.
A popular figure within the firm, Gniadkowski was regarded as one of Dentons' most productive lawyers.
Gniadkowski had worked on some of the biggest PFI deals in recent times including advising Equion – part of the John Laing Group – on the first PFI transaction entered into by the Metropolitan Police Authority.
