Clifford Chance (CC) head of private equity funds Stephen Ross has quit the City giant to become global head of legal structuring and corporate finance at asset management group Man Investments.

The lawyer was one of CC's key relationship partners for Man Group, the company's FTSE 100 parent, and will now be charged with managing the legal issues surrounding the group's core hedge fund and alternative investment funds portfolio.

Ross will also be responsible for managing Man's external advisers, which are believed to include CC, Ashurst Morris Crisp and Shearman & Sterling. He will also sit on the company's management board when he takes up his position in December.
