White & Case has signed off a landmark US-Dutch restructuring after advising on the $6bn re-capitalisation of United Pan-European Communications (UPC).

The deal saw UPC emerge from an almost year-long restructuring programme involving filing for a debt moratorium in The Netherlands and a Chapter 11 procedure in the US, meaning both countries' courts had to approve the package separately.

White & Case fielded two of its most senior lawyers on the deal, North America executive partner William Wynne and co-head of its insolvency practice, Howard Beltzer, both based in New York.
