moscow: growing investor confidence in the city has convinced jones day to open there this yearUS giant Jones Day is preparing to exploit growing investor confidence in Russia by opening an office in Moscow by the end of the year.

The firm has lodged an application to open the office – the firm's eighth in Europe – with the local authorities and is expecting to get the green light by the autumn.

The 'accredited' office will be headed by Russian expert and Washington DC-based M&A partner Vladimir Lechtman and aims to build on the firm's role advising Russian oil giant TNK's shareholders on last year's £11.3bn joint venture with BP – the largest corporate transaction in Russian history.
