Taylor Wessing has appointed a new IT director to manage the technical aspects of its Anglo-German integration project, which is widely seen as one of the most interesting logistical exercises currently being undertaken by a large law firm.

Tim Hyman, currently the head of IT at Harbottle & Lewis, is to take charge of Taylor Wessing's IT department. His appointment follows last month's departure of the firm's incumbent IT director, Adam Westbrooke, who quit to start his own business – Firstcourt, a legal IT service provider.

The central challenge for Hyman will be overseeing the complete integration of financial and infrastructural systems to bring what is currently a fragmented business more closely together, including the installation of new practice management and firm-wide document management systems.
