SJ Berwin has hired sole practitioner and special commissioner Judith Powell as a partner in its tax team.

Powell, who runs her own firm Strand Legal, will join the firm at the beginning of next month and will work in the team, which is headed by Michael Trask and acts for clients including London & Regional, AXA and Anglo Irish Private Equity.

The hire follows two other partner hires by the firm in recent weeks. Earlier this month it announced Clifford Chance private equity partner Tim Wright and DLA litigation partner Michael Bywell would also be joining the firm.
