The Diary Reports

Hats off (but not top hats) to the band of law firms swinging into action with a 'statement of intent' on 'Diversity in Law', signalling a bold commitment to get a more diverse bunch of public school kids into the profession.
Sure, the snipers will say that a bunch of white, middle-aged Oxbridge types who have spent the last 10 years kicking out anyone over the age of 45 should just keep their heads down and hope no-one notices. But The Diary, for one, lauds the sentiment.
Particularly impressive was Linklaters citing the firm's debt to the "community in which we operate", presumably referring to the community of fat bankers. The Diary cannot help wondering though whether such an initiative needs to generate so much jargon.
Prime offender was multiple references to the "diversity dividend", a mysterious critter that the profession is apparently waking up to.
Along, no doubt, with the "guff gain" and "bullshit bonus".
