Clyde & Co has dramatically expanded its core insurance practice after securing the takeover of top aviation boutique Beaumont and Son.

The merged firm will retain the Clyde & Co name but a relaunched aviation department will operate under the brand Beaumont and Son – aviation at Clyde & Co.

All 17 Beaumont partners are to join Clydes: 11 as full equity partners, four as fixed equity partners and the remaining two as consultants. The deal is expected to create a £117m insurance and litigation specialist, effectively swelling the top 50 UK firm's revenues by £13m.
