ASLA – the organisation representing Italy's corporate firms – has seen its two endorsed candidates re-elected to the Milan Bar Council, as the body's influence continues to grow.

At the elections – held on 7 and 8 February – Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe's Guido Bardelli and Piergrossi Bianchini Eversheds' Sergio Barozzi were both voted to serve another two-year term on the 15-member Bar Council.

Although both lawyers already sit on the council as independents, this year's poll was the first time they had stood as representatives of ASLA, which was formed in 2004 to represent Italy's growing band of commercial firms.

Barozzi told Legal Week: "This is the first time that ASLA has been directly involved in an election."
