Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw securitisation partner Mark Nicolaides has left the firm after 23 years.

The US-qualified lawyer practiced as a partner in the firm's European offices from 1990 and joined the London arm in 2000. It is understood that he left the firm recently and has not yet finalised his next move.

During this time he has represented banks and other financial institutions in a variety of capital markets activities including securitisation, leveraged and management buy-outs, high-yield and collateralised debt obligations.

Key deals he has acted on recently include advising ABN Amro on its North Sea Funding programme, which took $3bn in debt off the Dutch bank's balance sheet. He also acts as outside counsel to the European Securitisation Forum.
