Benelux firm Loyens & Loeff has reshuffled its top brass with tax partner Pim Bertels taking over as firm chairman and litigation partner Maarten Das also joining the firm's executive board.

Bertels, who took the reigns on 9 June, replaces Philip van Hilten, who served four years as chair – the maximum allowed by the firm's constitution.

Bertels was elected at the partners meeting in December 2005 and has spent the last six months liaising with van Hilten. Talking to Legal Week about his goals as chair, he cited the firm's Brussels office as the priority, with the firm looking to boost the numbers of both associates and partners, particularly in real estate.
