2 Harcourt Buildings has taken on licensing specialist Simon Mehigan QC from 5 Paper Buildings as the set continues to expand in the build-up to its move to bigger premises this autumn.
Mehigan specialises in litigation relating to restraint of trade, breach of confidence and licensing law, particularly in relation to betting and gaming. He is the sixth new barrister in twelve months to join the public law, planning and environment set headed by Robin Purchas QC.
Mehigan's arrival follows the hire in May of licensing practitioners Kevin de Haan QC, Gerald Gouriet, Mark Harris and James Rankin from 3 Raymond Buildings. The set has also taken on public law and licensing specialist Harry Spurr from St John's Chambers, and Juan Lopez, who recently completed pupillage.
The hires precede the move by the set from 2 Harcourt Buildings in the Temple to the Francis Taylor Building this autumn.
Robin Purchas QC said: "We are delighted that Simon is to join us. His recognised expertise will further reinforce our existing strengths in licensing and related fields."
