The Government has appointed a new chairman for the Law Commission, it was announced today (24 July).

The Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer, named veteran High Court judge Mr Justice Terence Etherton in the role, which begins on 1 August and carries a three-year term.

Etherton, a QC in the Chancery Division specialising in company law, property and negligence work, succeeds the outgoing Mr Justice Roger Toulson in the post.
