Biotech company Trigen has appointed its first in-house lawyer with the hire of Eversheds pharmaceutical specialist Justin Penman. Penman was an assistant in the commercial department of the national giant's City arm and becomes sole in-house counsel at Trigen.

Amlin general counsel James Healy-Pratt has decided to move into private practice, having been recruited by City litigation boutique Stewarts to head up its new aviation department.

Healy-Pratt will join the firm as partner in December after six years with the insurance and reinsurance company, during which time he set up and developed its in-house legal team.

Barclays Capital senior in-house lawyer joins Norton Rose

Barclays Capital senior in-house lawyer Dean Naumowicz is to join Norton Rose's London HQ as a derivatives partner in the City firm's international securities group.

Naumowicz, who joined Barclays Capital in November last year, previously worked at Allen & Overy and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

US pharmaceutical giant starts hunt for new general counsel

Richard Willard has stepped down as general counsel of US pharmaceutical giant Bristol-Myers Squibb after less than a year in the role. Willard, who joined the company from Gillette, left following an investigation into the negotiation of a settlement agreement relating to litigation concerning the use of a drug manufactured by Bristol-Myers.
