Hackney Council creates panel of barristers

Hackney Council has created what is believed to be the first panel of barristers in a bid to reduce external legal costs. The London authority has appointed 12 sets of chambers after a tender exercise that saw more than 700 barristers take part. Chambers bidding for a place had to provide fixed prices for defined types of work such as half-day hearings and drafting documents.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
