Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has scooped Dutch shopping centre company Plaza Centers as a new client after advising opposite White & Case on its £514m flotation on the London Stock Exchange.

BLP corporate finance partners Michael Anderson and Paul Miller advised on the listing at the beginning of the month, marking a significant full-list mandate for the mid-market firm.

Client relationship partner Jonathan Morris said: "We have a strong reputation in real estate and a growing reputation in equity capital markets. It is great to be able to put two of our strongest practices together."

White & Case's London arm advised the book runner and sponsor on the listing, UBS, as well as the sole lead manager, Bridgewell. Netherlands firm NautaDutilh advised the duo on Dutch aspects.

Bird & Bird corporate partner Stephen van der Waal, who is based in The Hague, advised Plaza Centers on Dutch law, assisted by corporate partner Erik Limpens and senior associates Ingrid de Haan and Lous Vervuurt.

The instruction also marks the first time Bird & Bird has acted for Plaza Centers, which was also advised in-house by general counsel Marc Lavine and by BLP's US alliance partner Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel.

Plaza Centers is a subsidiary of Elbit Medical Imaging, an Israeli public company that trades on both the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in Israel and the NASDAQ Global Market in the US.

It develops shopping and entertainment centres in Central and Eastern Europe and India.

Van der Waal commented: "We have been working for the whole group for some time, although this is the first time we have acted for Plaza Centers."

Both BLP and Bird & Bird have handled a number of foreign companies looking to list in London.

Bird & Bird, meanwhile, has been concentrating on the Alternative Investment Market and has advised the first Dutch, Italian and Swedish companies to list.
