Macfarlanes has won its first instruction from Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) – advising the company on its £4.3bn approach for Anglo-Dutch rival Corus. Corporate partner Charles Martin is leading the team for the City firm, assisted by corporate partners Tim Lewis and Graham Gibb and debt finance head Julian Howard. Cravath Swaine & Moore is advising CSN on US law.
