Simmons & Simmons has been hit by the loss of another partner in Asia following the announcement today (10 January) that US securities partner David Neuville is to join Jones Day's Hong Kong office.

Neuville, who joined Simmons' Hong Kong arm in 2004 from Baker & McKenzie, has practised US securities law in Hong Kong since 1994.

The appointment means Jones Day now has 15 partners and around 50 lawyers in total based in Hong Kong.

Neuville's departure follows the news in December that a five-partner team – including Simmons' China managing partner, Huen Wong – was quitting the top 10 City firm to launch a Hong Kong practice for Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson.

Simmons still has around 20 partners and 100 lawyers in Hong Kong, as well as further offices in Shanghai and Tokyo.
