Clifford Chance (CC) has boosted its Dutch projects capabilities with the hire of corporate partner Jaap Koster from Dutch independent Houthoff Buruma.

Koster, who will join the magic circle firm's Amsterdam office as a partner, focuses on infrastructure, project finance, environmental and regulatory work.

Koster is currently agreeing exit terms with Houthoff, where he had been a partner since 1992.

The move continues a spate of hires by the City giant in Amsterdam. Notable additions over the last year included the hire of four finance lawyers from magic circle rival Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, including partner Pieter van Welzen, who joined in May.

CC now has 160 lawyers in its Amsterdam office, including 28 partners. Highlights for the firm's Amsterdam transactional team last year included advising a consortium led by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co on its acquisition of Dutch media giant VNU in a deal valued at €7.3bn (£5bn).
