London insurance specialist Kennedys has re-elected senior partner Nick Thomas for a third term after an uncontested election.

Thomas has been senior partner at Kennedys since 1996, during which time the firm has trebled the size of its partnership from 29 to around 90.

He will continue to work alongside chief executive Ric Martin and chairman Steve Cantle.

Last October Kennedys merged with Spanish ally Arauz de Robles Y Velez Abogados, cementing the firms' five year alliance. The firm also opened an office in Sydney last May after poaching a four-partner insurance team from Australian leader Minter Ellison.

In the UK, the firm is set to consolidate in City operations by moving its 200 London-based lawyers under a single roof at One Fenchurch Avenue, with the relocation scheduled for 2008.

Thomas told Legal Week: "Our first challenge is to make the move into our new building. Looking into the future, Singapore is on our radar and we see the Madrid office as our entry point into the Latin American markets."
