Field Fisher Waterhouse has advised a new client on the acquisition of Donington Park Leisure, the owner of motor racing circuit Donington Park.

The firm secured the mandate to advise the newly-created company Donington Ventures Leisure after a referral from accountancy firm Saffery Champness.

Field Fisher head of sport business Patrick Cannon and real estate partner Edward Bannister led the team on the deal, which saw Donington Ventures obtain a 150-year lease for the 600-acre site.

Donington Park is the UK's busiest motor racing circuit and is the home of the British Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Bannister told Legal Week: "It is early days yet, although our clients are looking at various schemes to maximise the value of the site, the race track being core to this development.

"The race track will remain, bolstered by the income from the promotion of motor racing for bikes and cars, more events and the motor museum at Donington Park."

Hammonds corporate partner Nick Allen advised Live Nation on its disposal of Donington Park Leisure.

Browne Jacobson property partner David Huddleston advised the landlord, Wheatcroft & Son, on the grant of the lease.

The deal, which closed on the 31 January, follows a number of recent deals for Field Fisher in the sports and leisure sector.
