Slaughter and May has advised property developers Grosvenor on two transactions in the space of a week.

Slaughters real estate partner Dermot Rice took the lead advising Grosvenor on an agreement with John Lewis to become the main department store in a 1.6 million sq ft project in Preston.

The 230,000 sq ft department store will form part of the £500m Tithebarn project to rejuvenate Preston city centre with new shops, leisure facilities and housing.

Grosvenor signed up to the project with Preston City Council for the redevelopment last year.

Meanwhile, Slaughters real estate partner Steven Edwards advised Grosvenor on its facility management arrangements with Ecovert FM for its head office and commercial and residential estates in Mayfair and Knightsbridge.

Property developer and investment management group Grosvenor has real estate assets totalling around £9bn and is a longstanding client of Slaughters.

The deals come as Slaughters last week landed another major development deal, advising Barratt Developments on its £2.2bn offer for Wilson Bowden.

Corporate partner Kathryn Davis led the Slaughters team, while Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer corporate partner Gareth Stephenson advised Wilson Bowden. Ashurst corporate partner Adrian Clark advised the Wilson family and related family trusts.
