White & Case has beefed up its New York office with the hire of a five-partner finance team from Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw.

The team, who all practise in Mayer Brown's New York office, consists of finance partners Nazim Zilkha, Kenneth Suh, Jeffrey Whyte, Jin Kim and Ronald Brody.

The exits follow the earlier loss of New York-based Mayer Brown corporate partner William Candelaria, who quit the Chicago firm earlier this year to join the local arm of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.

The appointment continues a run of hires for White & Case in recent months. Other notable hires made by the firm include the recruitment of three partners from Dewey Ballantine – New York restructuring head Alan Gover, global energy chief Earle O'Donnell and Washington DC energy partner Donna Attanasio.

Earlier this month White & Case joined those US firms to have posted robust financial results for 2006, unveiling double-digit growth in turnover and profits per equity partner (PEP), with fee income hitting just under $1.2bn ((£644m) and PEP reaching a new mark of $1.5m (£815,000).
