Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr's London arm has advised a consortium backed by Irish private equity group Atlantic Bridge Ventures on its £265m acquisition of LogicaCMG's text messaging division.

Former corporate partner Christopher Grew, who has now left for US rival Heller Ehrman, led the team advising the consortium, which included former Logica Mobile Networks chief operating officer Larry Quinn and holding company Access Industries.

The deal will come as some relief to Wilmer, which has seen several senior departures in recent months, with Grew one of a trio of corporate technology partners who left the firm for Heller Ehrman at the end of last month.

Wilmer Cutler's London office has suffered from a low profile in recent years. Corporate deals it has advised on include acting for US biotech company Savient Pharmaceuticals on its £93m sale of Leeds-based Rosemont Pharmaceuticals last August.

Regular counsel Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised IT services giant LogicaCMG, fielding a team headed by London corporate partners David Sonter and Farah Ispahani.

Freshfields has regularly advised the technology company in the past, including acting opposite Linklaters when the group was formed by the £1.25bn merger between Logica and CMG in 2002.

Following its acquisition, LogicaCMG's telecoms products division will now be renamed Acision.
