Vecchio, who helped launch Freshfields' Milan office, will join Studio Legale Delfino e Associati Willkie Farr & Gallagher in Milan on 1 May. He focuses on corporate and M&A, securities offerings, structured financial products and tax issues.
Vecchio, who becomes Willkie's fourth full equity partner in Italy, joined Freshfields in 1997 from Studio Prof. Tremonti, where he was an associate.
The appointment comes after Willkie posted robust end-of-year financial figures, with 2006 revenues up 14% to reach a new mark of $502m (£250m). Profits per partner rose by 13% to edge past the $2m barrier for the first time, charting $2.03m (£1.03m).
