Berwin Leighton Paisner ally Beiten Burkhardt has re-jigged its senior management, adding two new members to its main management committee, the German independent announced today (27 March).

Frankfurt-based corporate partner Heinrich Meyer and Nuremberg public law partner Berthold Mitrenga join the three current members – corporate partner Jack Schiffer, public law partner Frank Obermann and labour law partner Hans-Peter Mechlem – on the executive committee.

The decision to expand the board was taken at the firm's annual partner meeting this week, with the three existing members handed further three-year terms. The new members will also serve on the board until 2010.

The firm said the need to expand its management board resulted from a period of growth that has seen turnover rise by 40% over the last two years, during which time around 100 new lawyers have joined the firm.

However, Beiten last month pulled the plug on its Cologne office, re-housing the bulk of the team in its Duesseldorf branch.
